Here at Trinergy Solutions Ltd we are forward-looking and keen to embrace any green, renewable heating option, undertaking an increasing number of ASHP installations in and around Frome, Somerset, and across the county border into West Wiltshire.
The first step to a clean, green warm future is to call us in to assess the suitability of your property for the installation of an ASHP, and what your heating requirements are. We can usually retro-fit an ASHP on an existing property, and of course most new builds nowadays have an ASHP installed as standard.
We provide MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) sign-offs and accreditations for your heat pump system design, installation and commissioning.
If you fear an ASHP may be too expensive for you to consider, check whether you’re eligible for the Government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme. You could get a grant of up to £7,500 towards the cost to replace your old oil, gas, electric or LPG boiler with a heat pump.
It captures heat from the air outside (even in minus temperatures) using coolant, which is then compressed, passed through a heat exchanger, and the heat transferred to water to feed radiators, underfloor heating or a storage cylinder.
An ASHP system requires an outdoor unit – usually bolted to a concrete base or an external wall – typically the size of a washing machine (depending on the heat output required). This is connected via pipework to the indoor tank/cylinder and radiators just like with a traditional boiler.
If you live in an older, less energy efficient building you may need a heat loss survey with some insulation upgrades, new radiators, or even an upgraded consumer unit to accommodate a heat pump.
Planning permission is not usually needed for installing a domestic heat pump, though there are some conditions attached relating to noise limits and distance from boundaries, and permission will be needed for a listed building.
Our heating experts have all the knowledge needed to advise you openly and honestly about what’s involved in installing and maintaining an ASHP to heat your particular property.
You can do your part by keeping the external unit clean and free of debris, so the airflow doesn’t get obstructed, and by cleaning the registers with a soft-bristled brush.
Don’t let grass or other plants encroach on the heat pump’s area and de-ice your machine in winter.
You should call in our professionals once a year for a heat pump service, , but on the rare occasion that your heat pump may need repairs, we’ll be there promptly to find and fix any faults. Many problems are caused by icy winter conditions, such as refrigerant leaks, faulty fan motors, and frozen evaporator coils. Heat pumps might also suffer electrical faults or compressor issues.
